Colton Dixon is a Tennessee native who rose to fame on season eleven of American Idol, where he placed seventh. Inspired by fellow Idol alums like Mandisa and Jason Castro, Colton transitioned into Christian music, using his voice to share his faith.
A singer since age 13, Colton sees music as a ministry: “I believe my voice was a gift from God to share the Message.” His standout Idol performance of Lifehouse’s “Everything” reflected his heart for worship, though he admits some regrets—like choosing Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” for another round.
Despite the ups and downs, Colton says Idol was part of God’s plan for him. “I knew God was with me the whole time.” He continues to live by John 13:16 and views himself as a messenger of God’s hope and truth.
His debut album A Messenger (2013) included hits like “Never Gone” and “You Are,” a worship anthem he began writing before Idol. His follow-up album Anchor (2014) featured “Through All of It” and “More of You,” songs that emphasize God’s faithfulness and the power of surrender.
